Consultant on eyewitness testimony:
-
I have been retained on several occasions to provide advice on perceptual and cognitive factors that might influence eyewitness testimony.
-
I have twice been qualified by Courts in Nova Scotia as an expert witness to testify on such matters.
-
I have been invited to attend, and assist with, the Clinical Law course at the Law School of Dalhousie University when this topic was covered.
Consultant on currency quality:
-
I have won several contracts and been awarded others without competition to assist the Bank of Canada in its studies of counterfeit detection and currency design.
-
My projects with the Bank (see list under Grants and Contracts) have emphasized the efficacy of specific security features that have been embedded in Canadian banknotes, the placement and value of portraits and the salience of, durability of and ease (or difficulty) of counterfeiting the tactility that is carried in intaglio printing.
-
In addition, I have been retained on several occasions to serve as a consultant to the United States Federal Reserve Board to advise them on research related to the monitoring and remediation of banknote quality due to wear and tear.
